Jodi D.Thorp
Jodi Thorp has practiced law for over 20 years. She spent her first five years as a trial attorney with Federal Defenders of San Diego. There, she distinguished herself as a talented trial advocate, winning trials through her determined and detailed investigation and courtroom advocacy skills. Since entering private practice in 2007, Ms. Thorp has expanded her criminal defense practice to include selected civil rights and personal injury cases, as well as civil forfeiture. She has also handled numerous social security disability cases for clients trying to manage the complex administrative procedures those cases involve.
Ms. Thorp is also barred in Washington State where she focuses on civil rights and police brutality cases. She partners with the Spokane, Washington law firm Meyer Thorp to represent families who have lost loved ones to police violence. She was recently part of a team of attorneys who settled a police shooting case for the highest amount in the history of Spokane, Washington. In addition, she works on select Worker’s Compensation cases.
Ms. Thorp is trilingual (Spanish/English/German) and has substantial international experience, having lived and worked in Germany, Argentina, and Costa Rica. She has conducted trainings in Mexico and has participated in legal programs supported by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in Johannesburg, South Africa and Doha, Qatar.
